Welcome to the Canon FD documentation
project, the most complete digital web archive for the Canon FD line.
A bit of history... What
had started as a simple attempt to create a personal website in December 1998, has
now become, after hundreds of hours of work, an ambitious documentation
project about the Canon Fd series
and probably the largest site on the web dedicated to this subject. The site
has more than 400 visitors
per day and is still growing. The site is now in its seventh year and still
receives regular contributions from all over the world !
This is a private, non-commercial site.
Its first goal is to create a digital archive which tries to help FD users,
collectors and lovers by providing clear and precise information. I firmly
believe that the initial purpose of the Internet was to make all kind of
information available in a democratic and free way. This site was built with
this idea in mind: it is free and it will stay free. I do not appreciate people
who download the whole site to sell it on a CD. Please be considerate and
respect my work. I am in no way affiliated with the Canon company.
For more than six years, I've been trying
hard to collect as much material as possible and I am very thankful for all the
scans and CDs many people have sent me. In order to keep this site growing and
interesting for all users, I am thankful for every new document. Some of the
documents are available in as pdf documents or as zipped gif or jpg files. The
rest of the manuals is available as gifs or jpgs in the catalogue.
These pages are hosted by Kjsl in California.
I'd like to thank Javier Henderson for helping me with the setup and the
maintenance of the pages. Without his assistance, this project would never have
grown.
About me. I am
from Luxembourg where I work as a spanish and french teacher at the Lycée Aline Mayrisch.
I started as an amateur photographer in 1997 with a Canon Eos 500N. At that
time, I was living and studying in Barcelona, Spain. After I had made my first
steps with the EOS 500N, I (re)discovered the FD system through a good old FTb.
I now own, besides this body, an EF, an AE-1 Program, a T90, a New F-1, a
Rolleicord V and a Nikon Coolpix 950. I have sold all my plastic Eos stuff (Eos
50e and 500n). I mainly shoot in black and white. As a spanish teacher I travel
to Spain regularly and I have visited many parts of this extraordinary country:
Andalucía, Cataluña and Barcelona, Valencia, Murcia, Madrid, Mallorca,
Tenerife, La Gomera, Galicia and the north of Portugal. You can find some
of my pictures in the gallery section.
Thanks again to all the Canon lovers who
have made this site possible by scanning and sending me their impressive
contributions. Many thanks to all the people who wrote mails from all over the
world, sent me scans, manuals or negatives and signed the guestbook, helping to
keep this site up to date and free from those little hard-to-find bugs. Thanks,
Merci, Danke, Bedankt, Grazie, Obrigado, Gracias... Enjoy !
